Position Summary


The Clinical Research Study Assistant is an integral part of the Lung Cancer Precision Oncology Program and Medical Oncology Clinical and Research Teams.


Duties

  • The role requires an individual who is detailoriented and able to collect clinical data using a variety of different sources (ie. medical charts, other hospital records, molecular profiling reports, etc.), as well as data entry and reporting using electronic and paper data management systems.
  • The Clinical Research Study Assistant must also possess strong interpersonal skills as he/she will interact with referring clinicians, patients, other staff including research nurses and coordinators, pharmacists and drug reimbursement navigators.
  • The Clinical Research Study Assistant will utilize his/her effective communication skills to support client intake activities and to disseminate relevant information to our clinical & research teams.
  • The Clinical Research Study Assistant will support communications between Lung Group Physicians and Investigators, Clinical Fellows, Clinical Research Nurses and Coordinators, Pharmacists, Drug Reimbursement Navigators and Health Canada in all aspects relating to patient biomarker testing, treatment matching and access. S/he will act as key support staff in quality assurance practices, data collection and management for the Lung Cancer Personalized Medicine Program.
  • The Clinical Research Study Assistant exercises judgment and complies with clinical and research regulations and guidelines, and established policies and procedures to complete well defined tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or sciencerelated discipline
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience preferred
  • Prior work experience in oncology and/or clinical research preferred
  • Administrative experience of organizing team meetings will be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) required
  • Proficiency in REDCAP preferred
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology required
  • General knowledge of research principles, concepts and techniques relating to data collection and data management
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills primarily for the purposes of exchanging and/or clarifying information and resolving problems within scope of authority
  • Ability to attend to detail and produce accurate, high quality work
  • Ability to multitask, work in a stressful environment and under pressure
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
