Under the guidance and direction of the Coordinator, Camps and Inclusion, the On-site Lead, Camp is responsible for providing leadership and on-site supervision to staff, volunteers and participants within the day camp program.

This position coordinates daily operations of the day camp program including creating and completing set up and take down checklists and designing schedules so that all camper groups participate in all the activities outlined in camp program plans and is the main liaison to the families, communicating with parents/guardians at various times throughout the day.


How you contribute to our organization:

  • Plan, implement and supervise day camp programming for children in accordance with HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development.
  • Develop and implement the camp program plans.
  • Provide details for a weekly activity newsletter and distribute to parents/guardians, and Client Services.
  • Secure or request equipment/supplies needed for program implementation.
  • Perform various customer service and administrative duties such as camper sign in and sign out, tracking paperwork, attendance, safe arrival phone calls, and responding to parent inquires.
  • Communicate with parents/caregivers in a constructive, positive manner, providing daily feedback and supporting the maintenance of meaningful relationships with families
  • Enforce all rules and expectations, maintain order in the designated camp areas as a proactive approach to accident prevention. Ensure safety of self, other staff and participants onsite while carrying out activities.
  • Conduct and encourage regular headcounts of campers to ensure everyone is safe and in attendance.
  • Provide crisis support and responds to behavioural issues in accordance with Behavioural Management Systems methodologies.

What you bring to the team:

  • At a minimum attending high school.
  • Must be 17 years or older by hire date.
  • Requires Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification.
  • Ability to submit a clean Police Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Check where appropriate, upon hire.

  • Principles of Healthy Child Development and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Behaviour Management Systems is preferred.
  • Requires 12 years' experience working with children, preferably in a camp environment, with at least 6 months in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of the daytoday structure of a day camp environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both written and verbal communication.
  • Commitment to providing a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity to the diverse needs of others.
  • Camp operations are 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday to Friday, from July
  • August 30.
  • Staff training will take place in the evenings and on weekends throughout June. Attendance at these training sessions is mandatory.
  • All staff are required to be available to work the Canada Day Event on July 1.

Wage:
$ $21.20, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension


Hours: 35 hours per week from May 2- June 28
40 hours per week from July - August 30


Location:
New Tecumseth Recreation Centre (7300 Industrial Pkwy, Alliston) and Tottenham Community Fitness Centre (139 Queen St. N., Tottenham)
