Employment Readiness Lead


As an Employment Readiness Lead with WBF, you will engage in the community to raise awareness of WBF's work and connect women to economic security through exciting careers in the trades and driving industries.

In this role, you will network across Ontario with community partners to raise awareness of the opportunities, and ultimately connect prospective students to WBF.

As a Lead, you will facilitate training opportunities in the realm of personal and career development as a means of preparing women to become ready, willing, and able to enter the Red Seal trades and careers in commercial transportation.

This position plays a key role in WBF's growth and impact by connecting more unemployed and underemployed women to economic security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Colead a broad WBF Readiness and Recruitment Strategy and play a key role in connecting women with training that leads to life changing employment.
  • Organize recruitment and readiness efforts, focusing on prospective applicants and organizations in identified communities in the targeted geographic region.
  • Represent and promote WBF by travelling within Ontario and connecting with communities and prospective applicants to provide information about WBF (e.g. career fairs, information sessions, and other events)
  • Schedule, coordinate and facilitate events such as information sessions and workshops around preemployment skill building.
  • Provide timely activity and progress reports.
  • Field a range of telephone and electronic inquiries; make referrals to internal and external contacts.
  • Regularly research recruitment and orientation events for participation, tracking trends and informing ongoing improvements.
  • Provide support and problemsolving assistance to students who are facing life management issues or other barriers that may affect their success in entering/completing training and securing/retaining employment.
  • Maintain student followups and records in accordance with Customer Relationship Management system requirements.
  • Develop best practices and contribute to continuous improvement of readiness and recruitment processes; willingness to learn and try different approaches.
  • Assess the need and level of support required by students; facilitate and provide leadership for the development and implementation of action plans to enhance student success through recruitment.

  • Interest in working with high schools, postsecondary students, and organizations to assess strengths and barriers, and actively engage with people exploring training for employment opportunities.
  • A community connector who is interested in building and nurturing relationships and strengthening a network that includes community organizations focused on youth, women and training for employment connections.
  • Excellent service and public relations skills to connect with people and community organizations, knowledge of resources.
  • Strong communication skills: confidence and comfort to facilitate presentations, public speaking to large numbers of people, group facilitation, oneonone support, and documentation skills.
  • Confidence and comfort with facetoface presentations and events, as well as online or blended formats. Ability to communicate information in clear, concise ways, and adapt for a variety of participants and audiences.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and customer relationship management software (CRM).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated event coordination and project management skills.
  • Comfortable with administrative activities such as scheduling, attendance tracking, budgeting, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Frequent travel throughout Alberta is required, approximately 50% of time. Ability to travel and a valid "Class 5" driver's license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven driving record (abstract required).

Education & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in related field such as Education, Community Development, Human Services, Psychology, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum of twoyears and ideally 5 years of recruitment, education, or community engagement experience.
  • Criminal and Vulnerable Sector checks indicating no record of convictions and no intervention service records are required.
  • Front line experience working closely with urban and rural communities and understanding of community structures and barriers to employment and training that women are facing.
