The EMEREGENCY DEPARTMENT NURSE PRACTITIONER demonstrates autonomy while assuming and having sole accountability and the authority to independentlycommunicate a diagnosis, prescribe drugs and order a range of diagnostic tests, the principal responsibilities include: utilizing and demonstrating advanced knowledge and decision making skills to conduct comprehensive assess, diagnose and manage the care of patients; planning and implementing strategies to promote health and prevent illness with individuals, families and groups; The EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT NURSE PRACTITIONER will also provide coverage (asrequired) for UHN's Virtual Emergency Department, providing care to patients through video visits for urgent, non-life threatening issues via same day online bookings.
Diagnose and manage the care of patients.Planning and implementing strategies to promote health Prevent illness with individuals, families and groups.
Completion of Masters Degree Program in Nursing ( or one semester from completion).
Nurse Practitioner (NP) Adult or Primary Care certificate complete or pending.
Current Certificate of Competence with College of Nurses of Ontario.
Canadian Nurses Association certification in Emergency Nursing preferred.
Experience in nursing research methodology.
Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards.
Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies.Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize process of planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.Evidence of commitment to team building and working within a patient focused care model.
Program planning and evaluation methodology skills.
Experience in a triage role in an emergency department setting.
