Invest Vancouver, the Metro Vancouver region's economic development leadership service, is seeking a Project Coordinator. Leveraging strengths in project management, research, and organization, the Project Coordinator will support Invest Vancouver as it advances transformational economic development projects and amplifies the Invest Vancouver brand to local and global audiences.

The Project Coordinator reports to the Vice President, Collaboration at Invest Vancouver and falls within our Professional / Technical, Level 1 job family.

This role:


  • Undertakes projects and research on specified topics including sensitive and confidential corporate issues. Collects information, conducts research, and coordinates projects in order to advance strategic initiatives; develop project charters; create project management systems and tools; respond to requests for information; and/or provide background information on political matters and past practice.
  • Presents recommendations and provides status updates on projects and research initiatives to Invest Vancouver's Vice President of Collaboration. Ensures deliverables meet goals and objectives, troubleshoots challenges and communicates delays in a timely manner.
  • Organizes events and prepares supporting materials such as agendas, brochures and reports as required; acts as the first point of contact for members and attendees; organizes meeting logistics; prepares, distributes and posts agendas; creates and edits reports; tracks completion of action items; and follows up on outstanding items.
  • Works collaboratively across departments, to ensure successful public engagements. Ensures protocols and processes are consistently applied and are in accordance with corporate standards.
  • Provides input for evaluating work flows and tracking mechanisms for the Invest Vancouver's Collaboration team and supports the Vice President of Collaboration in developing and implementing efficient and effective practices.
  • Liaises with Invest Vancouver staff, municipal representatives and provincial and federal government representatives and outside organizations on a variety of matters such as coordinating meetings, collecting and compiling material, conducting research and responding to enquiries for information.
  • Provides clear and consistent information, assistance and guidance to internal and external contacts pertaining to collaboration initiatives led by Invest Vancouver.
  • Collaborates across teams and organizations to identify and advance strategies to promote Invest Vancouver to local and global audiences, as appropriate.
  • Contributes to managing and maintaining physical and electronic records. Ensures adherence to established and consistent practices and identifies practices required correction.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

To be successful, you have:


  • 23 years of recent, related experience supplemented by a university degree or diploma in a relevant field such as business administration, public administration, or communications; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Local Government Administration Certificate is an asset.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and interpret narrative and statistical data on sensitive and confidential corporate issues.
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills including the ability to identify trends and problems and summarize information and findings.
  • Ability to plan, create and coordinate strategic projects, activities, programs and events from concept to final product.
  • Experience in project management: scoping, planning, implementing, and reviewing and tracking performance.
  • Knowledge related to the political and operational realities of local governments in British Columbia.
  • Ability to use judgment to evaluate, research, and resolve problems within established guidelines and procedures and determine which methods are applicable in any given situation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively listen, and support the resolution of problems; demonstrated ability to draft business letters, memos, and reports from limited instructions or precedent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective and respectful working relationships; applies team effectiveness skills and contributes to the achievement of team goals.
