A & L Canada Laboratories Inc.

is currently seeking a Field Collections Technician in the Alliston/North Toronto area who will be responsible for supporting operations through the provision of collection of tissue/soil samples throughout the growing season.

Other duties may include assisting in field trial work, and/or related agronomy support.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform field work e.g. soil/tissue/manure sampling, monitoring crop production & harvesting, plot work, etc.
  • Crop scout as required to provide precise assessments of pest pressure and crop performance to evaluate economic risk from pest infestations and disease, and the potential effectiveness of pest and disease control interventions.
  • Assist with duties relating to precision agriculture, such as UAVs and VR technology.
  • Assist with A&L research projects (e.g. test plots, fertilizer trials, A&L Biologicals, UAV, pest management, soil health, etc.)
  • Assist with the coordination of field work including farM/Field visits, preparation of paperwork, preparation of samples for shipping, etc.
  • Provide weekly activity reports to the regional manager

Qualifications:


  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, and sun.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new skills.
  • Proficient in basic reporting and tracking procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and label samples accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a clientfocused approach.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a pickup truck with a trailer and ATV (driving records check required).
  • Physically capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. and walking for extended periods in fields.
  • Experience with precision agriculture or familiarity with related concepts is a plus.
  • Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance, daily care, and minor repairs.
