Position Summary

Centennial College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HRIS Business Analyst (BA) to join the HRIS team within the People and Equity Department.

Reporting to the Manager, HRIS and People Operations, the HRIS Business Analyst serves as a liaison and consultant between the People & Equity team, IT, and other business areas across the college.

Acting as a facilitator, solutions designer, and trusted advisor, the HRIS BA provides expertise in analyzing business requirements and recommending technical solutions, and plays a pivotal part in supporting the strategic direction and functionality of software products for the college's employees.


Responsibilities

  • Works closely with different teams across people and equity and IT; identifies and analyzes business requirements of users and key stakeholders in various business areas and recommends new or revised technical solutions
  • Gathers and analyzes technical requirements to meet user needs
  • Writes technical reports and specifications, and provides technical advice and quality assurance when required.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and offers support to employees regarding software product functionality
  • Provides consultative advice and recommendations to IT and college management and staff, encompassing business processes, information technology, and process reengineering.
  • Engages with managers and users through presentations, workshops, interviews, and briefing notes to assess initiatives, develop business cases, and conduct feasibility and options analyses that accurately address business needs.
  • Analyzes current business processes and offer recommendations for continual service improvements, considering industry trends, best practices, and professional business knowledge throughout the project life cycle.
  • Assists in project management efforts through defining project scope and objectives, involving relevant stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility, developing project schedules, monitoring progress, reporting, and escalating issues as needed, and coordinating internal resources and thirdparty vendors for project execution.

Qualifications/Experience

  • A fouryear university degree or a postgraduate degree certificate with a focus on Ecommerce and/or Computer Science.
  • A certificate in Business Analysis or project management certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources/Payroll Information Systems, PL/SQL, Cognos BI, HTML, and Portal technology required
  • Experience working with relational database management systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems required, preferably Ellucian Banner
  • Experience in technology and business process mapping, workflow analysis, and project coordination or management.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office Suite and database systems.
  • Knowledge of unionized environments and college collective agreements is an asset.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, a processfocused mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
