Municipal Pension Plan, Victoria BC**:

Duration: May 2024 until August* months with opportunity to be extended for an additional 4-month term upon mutual agreement)

Location:Victoria (our office is situated on the Selkirk Waterfront on the Gorge Inlet. Enjoy stunning views of downtown Victoria and the Olympic mountains and take advantage of the nearby Galloping Goose Regional Trail for walking and biking).

Salary: $1,819.12 bi-weekly (for students working towards a diploma or bachelor's degree) or $2, for students working towards a post-graduate degree)

Grant:As part of our inVESTED scholarship program, you may be eligible for reimbursement up to a maximum of $1,000 per four-month work term to cover the cost of co-op work term tuition fees.

  • All Board Office personnel act in a confidential capacity to the board. Pursuant to Board and Pension Corporation delegations, the team in the Board office (regardless of employment terms) reports to the Plan's Executive Director. The plan's Executive Director (ED) is responsible for providing strategic support and advice to the Board, and for the successful leadership and management of the Board Office.

Team:The Office of the Municipal Pension Board Trustees (Board Office) provides professional and operational services to the Municipal Pension Board of Trustees (board), supporting trustees in meeting their governance and fiduciary obligations; carries out the day-to-day board operations; and serves as the key liaison between the board and plan partners, appointing authorities, agents, service providers, plan members and employers, and other stakeholders.

  • All Board Office personnel act in a confidential capacity to the board. Pursuant to Board and Pension Corporation delegations, the team in the Board office (regardless of employment terms) reports to the Plan's Executive Director. The plan's Executive Director (ED) is responsible for providing strategic support and advice to the Board, and for the successful leadership and management of the Board Office.
  • Daytoday administration of the plan and investment of the fund is carried out by the Board's two agents, the BC Pension Corporation (BCPC) and the BC Investment Management Corporation (BCI), respectively. The Board is a representative jointly trusteed lay board. BCPC is a professional pension administrator, serving some of the largest pension plans in Canada. BCI is a global investment manager for BC's public sector and one of the largest asset managers in Canada.
  • The Municipal Pension Plan (Plan) is the largest pension plan in BC and the sixth largest plan in Canada with over $70 billion in assets. It has approximately 400,000 members and more than 900 participating employers in the health, local government, community, education, and other sectors. The Municipal Pension Board of Trustees (Board) is the Plan Administrator.

The Job Responsibilities:


  • Draft briefing notes for board and committee meetings as required, including researching writing, briefing material.
  • Prepare initial drafts of post
- board and committee meeting documents including meeting minutes, decision summaries and other reports as required.

  • Provide other board support services and undertakes special projects as required; including research, analysis, writing, liaising.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Help assist with adhoc pension and investment management related research, reports and projects.
  • Support the Office's records management digitization project.
