Your opportunity:


Under the general direction of the Student Success Coordinator, the Experiential Learning Coordinator supports the coordination and implementation of a wide range of co-curricular supports designed to promote the active engagement of and leadership within Management and Economics students in order to ensure a positive student experience throughout and beyond their undergraduate degree.

The incumbent is also responsible for recommending and implementing a variety of initiatives that support student leadership and skills relevant to undergraduate business study through experiential education programming, communication and professional skills development.

The Experiential Learning Coordinator advises and works with the Department of Management's Departmental Student Association (Management and Economics Students' Association - MESA) and its associated clubs in support of delivering events and services that benefit UTSC Management students and are aligned with the strategic direction of the Department.

The Experiential Learning Coordinator is an essential liaison between the students and the Department of Management.

They develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with faculty, alumni, staff and community partners in the delivery of relevant, student experiential programming.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Planning and implementing curricular and/or cocurricular programs and activities to enhance the academic and professional development of all students served by the Department.
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an ongoing evaluation framework for programs and initiatives to maximize positive outcomes for students.
  • Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies.
  • Keeping wellinformed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Developing strategies and content for marketing and/or promotional materials that maximize outreach to students. Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities.
  • Monitoring accounts for student projects and programs.
  • Assigning, training and checking the work of student leaders and workstudy students to maintain our commitment to providing the "experience to lead".

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience working directly with student in a cocurricular setting within a postsecondary environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in student development theory and experiential education.
  • Experience with providing professional development opportunities, budgeting and financial management.
  • Demonstrated communication, project management, volunteer management, conflict resolution, problem solving and customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build effective partnerships with colleagues and students.
  • Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of survey development, administration and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment.
  • Tact, judgment and patience in dealing with students and other stakeholders.
  • Particularly strong ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills. Highly motivated, selfstarter with creative thinking skills.
  • Must be able to stay organized, multitask and meet deadlines; and exercise accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated behaviour that indicates personal commitment to innovation, teamwork, flexibility and integrity.
