Work Description

Under the guidance of the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for a variety of duties, both in the office and on work sites, in support of several of Tamarack's health and safety initiatives.

This is a summer student position from Monday, May 1, 2023 until Friday, September 1, hour work week.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Maintain files and records according to naming conventions, and scan files for electronic storage in order to further the organization's paperless initiatives;
  • Collect and maintain job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations;
  • Collect and maintain records of trainings, tracking dates of completion and providing reports on outstanding completions to Health and Safety Manager;
  • Assist in implementation of electronic records management system, entering pertinent information into the system as required;
  • Assist in the implementation of office procedures and practices;
  • Various clerical duties as required;
  • Any other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A high school diploma is required for this role. Current enrollment in a postsecondary program in Health & Safety, would be preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and approach situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment

  • Providing service to several people, working under many simultaneous deadlines;
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time at workstation;
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals;
  • Repetitive work.
