Work Description

Under the guidance of the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for a variety of duties, both in the office and on work sites, in support of several of Tamarack's health and safety initiatives.

This is a summer student position from Monday, May 1, 2023 until Friday, September 1, hour work week.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain files and records according to naming conventions, and scan files for electronic storage in order to further the organization's paperless initiatives;
Collect and maintain job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations;
Collect and maintain records of trainings, tracking dates of completion and providing reports on outstanding completions to Health and Safety Manager;
Assist in implementation of electronic records management system, entering pertinent information into the system as required;
Assist in the implementation of office procedures and practices;
Various clerical duties as required;
Any other duties as required.

Statement of Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A high school diploma is required for this role. Current enrollment in a postsecondary program in Health & Safety, would be preferred.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
Ability to meet deadlines;
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
Ability to maintain confidentiality and approach situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment

Providing service to several people, working under many simultaneous deadlines;
Sitting or standing for long periods of time at workstation;
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals;
Repetitive work.
