The Strategic Project Management Office engages strategic digital transformational initiatives that have direct contribution to NorQuest 2030: We Are Who We Include strategy. We strive to be the center of excellence for transformational project management, business analysis, and change management driven by strategic partnerships across the college.
The Business Analyst (BA), works closely with Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, combines technical expertise with effective communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills to drive positive outcomes in projects. Operationally, they support operational tasks through continuous improvement initiatives and modeling NorQuest values - the Q's, such as Lead from Where You Are, Be Dependable, Start Small& Think Big.
This position is eligible to participate the flexible work style. Regular in person attendance is required.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Understand and analyze processes and functions

Analyze and understand existing business processes, system functions, and business rules.
Identify inefficiencies, deficiencies, performance bottlenecks, and other areas for improvement in current systems and processes.

Identify and document business requirements

Work closely with stakeholders to identify business requirements.
Challenge current practices and conventions by researching alternatives, introducing best practices, and identifying opportunities for process innovation.
Translate business requirements into solutions that addresses root cause(s), outlining functional and non-functional specifications. Decompose large epics or complex requirements into user stories that can be understood, estimated, developed, and tested.
Create documentation such as but not limited to business requirements, project plan, business process maps, environmental scans, and current state analysis report.

Design effective solutions

Propose solutions to improve business processes and system functionality.
Work alongside technical analysts to ensure accurate translation of business requirements into technical specifications.
Oversee the implementation of new system capabilities and processes to ensure alignment with business needs.
Create comprehensive acceptance criteria and test steps to provide quality assurance and business teams expected results for success in relation to solution performance, user acceptance and operational acceptance testing.

Engage stakeholders

Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders to understand business needs and expectations.
Present and explain business analysis findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.

Deliver high-quality work in a high-performance team environment

Manage and lead project segments related to business analysis as needed.
Collaborate with project managers and contribute to the overall project success
Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality project deliverables.
Challenge and be challenged in pursuit of the best possible solution.
Stay current on the latest trends and best practices in business analysis
Recommend and implement improvements to current analysis practices and methods.

Change Management

Develops an analysis and understanding of how changes will affect the people and processes
Communicates system changes and issues at all levels within the organization.
Develop and coordinate system training, educational tools and materials.
Monitors and audits the use and the performance of the systems; executes system quality control practices and procedures.

WHAT YOU BRING

Minimum 3 years in business analysis role
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related discipline. Demonstrated training and application of business analysis required.

* Equivalents will be considered:

A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and five years of related experience
A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven years of related experience

Experience in software testing including test planning, execution and reporting
Experience working with senior management and operational staff

SALARY: $54,028 - $70,193 annually, reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time AUPE permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
