Philanthropy Officer, University Advancement:


Required Position:


Term Appointment - One (1) year contract

Responsibilities:


The Advancement Officer, Philanthropy plays a significant role in advancing Laurentian University's mission by ensuring the continued growth of our philanthropy portfolio.

Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Advancement Officer, Philanthropy is responsible for developing and executing strategies for philanthropic success.

With a focus on gifts in the five figure range and contributing to strategy on gifts above that.

The Advancement Officer, Philanthropy will support the successful solicitation and engagement of these important constituent groups by working with volunteers.

This will include managing an existing portfolio of prospects, acquisition of new donors, as well as developing and implementing a plan to renew donors.

The Advancement Officer, Philanthropy will utilize their project manager skills to accomplish tasks through influence and collaboration. They will follow through on tasks in an efficient manner by utilizing their organizational capabilities.


Combining a positive outlook with a hands-on work ethic, the Advancement Officer, Philanthropy, employs industry best practices, and creative strategies in managing their portfolio to help achieve revenue targets.


This role collaborates with the University Advancement team to develop and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for specific donors and prospects.


Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Revenue Development

  • Meet personal portfolio and team goals specific to revenue, call volume, proposal development and solicitation;
  • Focus on $25,000+ pipeline development and growth;
  • This role will be very external facing with high importance placed on prospect and donor meetings;
  • Actively monitor progress towards financial goals, enabling necessary action to meet and exceed targets;
  • Assist with volunteer orientation, portfolio management and training for fundraising success;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key alumni, donors, prospects, and community supporters;
  • Lead initiatives to close gifts assigned to Chief Advancement Officer;
  • Develop donorcentred fundraising materials and strategic proposals;
  • Liaise with other departments, with a focus on priorities approved by the President, to remain current with priorities and plans. Identify, develop and articulate areas for philanthropic support to diversify and expand University's funding opportunities and donor base;
  • Conduct presentations and lead meetings with existing donors as well as potential new donors.

Business Planning & Strategy

  • Create relationship management plans, and assign work, to ensure coordinated efforts for cultivation and solicitation of donors;
  • Create and manage stewardship plans to ensure fulfilment of gift agreements and honouring commitments made to major gift donors;
  • Works with organization leaders to identify opportunities for donor support and engagement;
  • Work within prospect identification and clearance procedures;
  • Meticulous use of the donor and research databases to find information, record donor interactions and proposal status.

Qualifications:


  • Honors undergraduate degree (4 years) in a related field;
