As we continue to grow, we seek a Lead Wood Veneer Machine Operator doing Press to join our dynamic team and contribute to our success.


Position Overview:


As a Lead Wood Veneer Press Machine Operator at Millworks Custom Manufacturing, you will play a critical role in the production process, ensuring the precision and quality of our custom millwork products.

You will be responsible for operating and maintaining various machine presses that press laminate and real wood veneer on to various substrates.

This position requires attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a commitment to safety and quality.


Key Responsibilities:


Machine Operation:

Set up and operate machine presses according to project specifications, ensuring precise measurements and adherence to design requirements with technical instructions.

Operate a gluing machine to glue pieces of wood together or press and affix wood veneer to wood surfaces.

Material Handling:
Load and unload materials onto the machine press, ensuring proper alignment and positioning for accurate shaping and forming. Studies blueprints given by the Production Manager clarify any aspect of the jobs.

Quality Assurance:

To monitor the production process to ensure the quality of finished components, inspect the products thoroughly, make adjustments to maintain high standards and do proper documentation daily to maintain production, industry regulations, and company standards.

Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions.

Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machine presses to ensure they operate efficiently and safely, including general janitorial duties throughout the shift as time follows.

Report any maintenance issues or lack of materials promptly to the Team Lead/Production Manager. Conduct periodic outputs and supervise the process to ensure everything runs according to the settings.

Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize workplace hazards and promote a safe working environment.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other members of the production team, including designers, carpenters, and finishers, to ensure seamless project execution.

Adhere to the instructions and the production schedule as per the Production Manager.

Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of production activities, including materials used, machine settings, and production times.

Continuous Improvement:
Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality in the production process.


Supervision of the pressing process:


  • Consults job-specific requirements with Team Leaders/Production Manager.
  • Reads job-specific blueprints.
  • Ensure the machines are stocked with materials needed and well-maintained.
  • Uses templates, fillers, and shims if needed.
  • Supervises the pressing process.
  • Manages the work of Assistant Machine Operators.
  • Thoroughly inspect the products to make sure they meet specifications.
  • Keeps machinery and work area clean and orderly.
  • Organizes products after forming and sends them to the next production phase.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience as a Lead Wood Veneer Press Machine Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with woodworking machinery and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Basic maintenance skills for troubleshooting and minor repairs.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Good communication, teamwork skills and a positive attitude.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy materials.
  • Flexible to work shifts as needed, reliable and punctual.

Salary:
$27.00-$30.00 per hour
