ABOUT US:


Coast 2000 Terminals is Western Canada's largest, integrated logistics facility, linking cargo moved by rail, barge, and truck with global markets.

Coast2000 is a Western IntermodeX Enterprise.

Coast 2000 Terminals is seeking a Maintenance Coordinator to join our Shared Resources team. The full-time position is based out of our Coast 2000 office in Richmond.


PURPOSE:


Reporting to Fleet & Facilities Supervisor, the Maintenance Coordinator acts as the hub from which all planned maintenance activity is coordinated.

The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for scheduling preventive and regular maintenance with mínimal interruption to production operations.

In this capacity, the Maintenance Coordinator is the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Operations and other supporting departments in relation to determining the timing for execution of planned maintenance work.


The Maintenance Coordinator works to ensure that Operations balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance practices.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:


The Maintenance Coordinator manages the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and supports other staff in effectively and efficiently utilizing the CMMS; identifies and facilitates improvements to the performance of the CMMS; and utilizes reporting and analysis tools to leverage CMMS functionality.


This position plays a key role in the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing functional support of the CMMS, including system design, configuration, and testing.

Incumbents perform complex and specialized tasks; provide technical assistance and training to users; and ensure all CMMS procedures are developed, understood, and followed consistently throughout the organization.

Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies and procedures. The role involves accountability to goals and decision-making responsibilities.


The position requires an individual with strong organizational, analytical, technical and leadership skills; problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills, independent judgement skills, inter-personal and people management skills.

The Maintenance Coordinator must possess the ability and skills to effectively provide direction and work in a diverse team environment.


The key challenges and responsibilities of the position:

  • Plan schedule and coordinate project management activities to production requirements.
  • Provide maintenance support for production and engineering activities to ensure optimum results.
  • Ensures the necessary supplies, equipment and materials are available for operations and scheduled maintenance activities using appropriate purchasing and inventory control methodologies.
  • Assure compliance of proper safety, quality, and environmental requirements in work.
  • Manage all aspects of the site and corporate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


Technical Knowledge

  • Strong "troubleshooting / diagnostic" skills.
  • Must have experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Must have prior experience in stores MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating materials) management, Inventory Control.
  • Experience using an ERP preferred.
  • IFS experience is an asset.

Work Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to identify and prioritize multiple projects and perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals; ability to present complex situations in a concise manner.
  • Must interact effectively with technical and professional contacts, as well as hourly workforce.
  • Must have excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Must have strong project management skills.
  • Computer skills are a must with knowledge of CMMS, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to build partnerships across and between functional groups and lead a project.
  • Proven experience utilizing work management process to plan and schedule maintenance work.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree/certification(s) in technical and/or maintenance related discipline preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in transportation or other maintenance related industry experience, with working knowledge of heavy duty and lift equipment (forklifts, container handlers, loaders.).
  • Minimum three (3) years MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating materials) Inventory Management Experience
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance (plumbing, electrical, landscaping)

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working in an industrial setting with exposure to the outdoors, including heat, cold weather, rain, fumes, and noise.
