Reporting to the Manager, Pension and Benefits the HR Benefits Assistant is responsible for assisting with benefits and pension administration for the Manager and the Human Resources team.

The HR Benefits Assistant is responsible for ensuring benefit and pension files are appropriately maintained, tracking retiree benefits and updating the Sun Life benefit system with new retiree and partial load benefit information.

The successful incumbent will prepare communications and support the administration of the retiree benefits program.

In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the Partial Load benefits administration as it pertains to entering data regarding enrolment, termination and reinstatement of benefits within the Sunlife system and tracking of information pertaining to Partial Load sick leaves and service.


In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the administration of contract employees' enrolment into the DBplus CAAT Pension Plan.

The incumbent will ensure eligibility requirements for the enrolments are met, track and follow-up with the employees and answer general inquires from staff.

The incumbent will assist with reconciling of the benefit premiums bills on a monthly basis for employees and retirees as well as updating salary changes into the benefit system and into the HRIS.

Additional responsibilities include overseeing the Human Resources department records management and archiving function, as well as maintaining the departmental presence on the Information Centre for Employees (ICE), Partial Load registry and Partial Load service credit data.
