Work Arrangements:
This is a hybrid role.
You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month.
You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
The Opportunity:
Equitable is growing We are looking to for a Vice-President, Strategic Asset Allocation to join our Investments team.
This role will be responsible for the strategic asset allocation and the development of portfolio strategy for the general funds of Equitable and investment participating products.
Additionally, they will be responsible for the management of the principal investment risks in the general account, including interest rate and equity risk.

- Strategic asset allocation develop quantitative models to optimize the asset allocation strategy for the general funds and investment participating products, using asset valuation and portfolio optimization models, in conjunction with a strong understanding of insurance liabilities
- Quantitative Research working in conjunction with functional asset class managers, provide quantitative perspectives for the asset categories
- Risk Management develop and use financial modeling and management tools including stochastic modeling, to manage and appropriate hedge interest rate, equity, credit and other investment risks, ensuring compliance with company risk tolerances and providing superior investment performance over the mid and long term
- Provides leadership across investment division particularly with public and private portfolio management with regards to asset allocation and risk management
- Responsible for ensuring informational integrity with models to ensure ongoing effectiveness
- Responsible for measurement and managing the interest rate risk in the portfolios as assessed by the Asset/Liability model
- Responsible for contributing to asset performance and market risk analysis for the development of insurance products
- Significant contributor to the development of Investment division overall strategy
What you will bring:
- Degree in Actuarial Science / Commerce / Economics or Math / Computer Science
- Chartered Financial Analyst and/or FSA
- Experience with and thorough understanding of portfolio management and investment products across all asset classes such as fixed income, credit, equities and derivative instruments
- Experience with and thorough understanding of financial modeling and management including stochastic modeling and hedging
- Excellent relationship skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels across the business
- Experience developing quantitative models from theoretical to implementation phases including advanced quantitative models for asset valuation, and portfolio optimization
- Knowledge of Bloomberg
- 10+ years of investment experience with an institutional asset manager
- Conscientious attitude toward model and process designs to mitigate risks of inappropriate investment decisions
- Experience with Derivatives
- Financial Risk Management designation an asset
- Objectoriented programming languages such as C/C++, Python,.NET, Java etc. an asset
