Kildonan-East Collegiate Casual position

Effective ASAP

Summary:

Under the direction of the Teachers and the Production Chef in the Culinary and Pastry programs, the Kitchen Aide staff assists in the preparation of daily food production, supports and supervises students as needed, and performs daily cleaning of the facility and machinery as assigned, including laundry duties.

Responsibilities:

Practicing and maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety procedures
Ability to operate laundry equipment and perform laundry duties
Ability to operate kitchen equipment
Must be able to work with students in the kitchens and assist with student training
Ability to work effectively with staff and students
Maintain cleanliness in the kitchens all areas
Must have completed all RETSD SmarterU courses
Coordinating food preparation for catering for school, community and other functions
Maintaining proper care and handling of all food processing equipment and cooking utensils
Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

Cooking experience in an institutional or restaurant setting preferred
Food Safe Handlers Certificate preferred
High school graduate or equivalent
High degree of initiative, organizational skills and time management ability
Effective communication skills
Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with staff, students and public
Ability to work according to flexible production schedules

This is a CUPE 4635 position.

Salary range:
$21.11 per hour (as per collective agreement)
