Overview:
Lafarge Canada Inc is a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality products for the construction industry and has an immediate opportunity at our Winnipeg Cement Terminal for a
Seasonal
Labourer.
The Labourer operates and maintains terminal equipment with a focus on bulk truck loading and bulk rail car unloading with associated administration reporting functions; all while maintaining high safety and quality assurance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in and operate within the terminal Safety Program in compliance with Lafarge Canada Inc's safety and environmental policies
- General labour related duties and cleanup
- Unload bulk railcars and load bulk semitrucks
- Operation and daily maintenance of rail unloading and bulk truck loading equipment
- Operate a forklift to load and unload packaged cement
- Supervise and direct contractors on site, when required
- Supervision and direction of truck/railway carriers' activities on site
- Inventory control
- Terminal Housekeeping
- Other associated duties that the employee is trained for
- Ability to work overtime and willing to work shift work if required.
Qualifications:
Exp
erience and Skill Set:
- Comfortable and capable of working at heights
- Demonstrates commitment to safety for oneself and others
- Mechanical aptitude a positive attribute
- Time and selfmanagement skills as part of a team or independently
- Physically fit to encompass labour requirements of role
- Demonstrate strong skills in problem solving, decision making and multitasking
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy: including Excel, Word programs a benefit
- Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including Saturdays
- Safety Oriented
- Able to lift 55 lbs
- Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment
- Valid class 5 driver's license
- Understanding of building materials industry, including cement product knowledge an asset
