RESEARCH COORDINATOR, PLAR

FACULTY OF RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC INNOVATION


The Faculty of Research and Academic Innovation is looking for an experienced researcher with a strong background in working in program evaluation and UX Design.

This position will support the development and delivery of a series of interactive prior learning and assessment recognition platform (PLAR) with competencies tied to Supply Chain Canada's competency framework.

Participants will enroll in the program and be offered an opportunity to validate prior learning and knowledge in the industry.

This unique platform tool will ne innovative and interactive and is meant to be accessible to a variety of Albertans, including newcomers.

As this is a new approach, we are looking for a researcher with a strong background in UX Design who will support the PLAR developers and the instructional designers to ensure that the tool is user friendly and meets the outcomes that we are setting to achieve.


This position is hybrid and will require some in-person presence (about 2 days a week) of work at the NorQuest College campus and is a 0.5 FTE 6-month term position.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
In partnership with Manager, Special Projects and Initiatives, this position will:

  • Work with the project team to identify clients who will participate in pilot assessment tools.
  • Create data collection tools (interviews/surveys) to create client profiles that will be used to design PLAR platform.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, networks, and service providers to collect existing data on client profiles and support data collection.
  • Meet with clients during the duration of their participation in the project to assess their experience and generate data to advise developers on how to adapt the platform.
  • Scan existing literature on the needs of midcareer workers in the supply chain industry and newcomers seeking employment within the supply chain sector.
  • Coordinate and conduct research with internal and external stakeholders (including work placement employers, research ethics board (REB), analysis, and reporting of surveys and interviews
  • Develop participant profiles that will be used in the development and design of the platform.
  • Measure impact of the tool with pilot participants and provide guidance on adjusting the tool for usability and accessibility.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collected through the project.
  • Provide project manager with updates on the research for reporting to funder.
  • Write research report, summaries, and other announcements for diverse audiences.
  • Support the content development team with recommendations from the research to develop and adapt online assessment platform.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A. in research design or a relevant field (social science).
  • 2+ years' experience in research (qualitative and quantitative), experience preferably in User Experience research, data analysis, client profile development, interpretation, and report writing.
  • Knowledge of User Experience and Design thinking approaches in the tech sector.
  • Ability to translate research concept into plain language and work collaboratively.
  • Intermediate computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, graphic design, and statistical packages (SPSS, MS Office Suite, Adobe).
