What can I expect to do in this role?: As a member of the Digital Services Section and under the direction of the section Manager, you will be supporting and helping to create divisional relational databases and tools for the storage, manipulation and reporting of resource management data, including:
- Compiling, transforming and loading resource management data into databases
- Automating common data management functions
- Assisting with the design, development and implementation of databases and tools that provide information to resource managers
- Assisting in documentation development and user acceptance testing
- Supporting virtual divisional training sessions
How do I qualify?:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Computer Skills
- You have used database management software and SQL to create, administer and query relational databases.
- You have computer programming (e.g. Python, HTML) skills.
- You have used word processors, spreadsheets and GIS software.
Analytical and Research Skills
- You have analysis skills to understand and document business processes and users' information needs for automation.
- You have Internet research skills to determine and develop algorithms for resource management data processing.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- You possess interpersonal, organizational, and prioritization skills to carry out work assignments and work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- You have well developed communication skills including experience preparing technical documents and presentations.
Technical Knowledge
- You have knowledge of relational database theory, data management principles, standards and best practices to design, develop and implement spatially enabled databases.
- You have experience with modern computer programming concepts, techniques and languages (e.g. Python, HTML, and XML).
- You have general knowledge of natural resources management.
Eligibility:
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
- Has graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a degree, postgraduate certificate or diploma within the last four years.
- Are not a permanent employee in the OPS.
