Job Summary:

Under the direction of the General Manager, Facilities and Maintenance, the Hay Wagon Conductor assists in the general operation and maintenance of the Hay Wagon ride as required, and oversees general boarding and off-boarding procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assists passengers in boarding and leaving the Hay Wagon;
  • Ensures that passengers adhere to general regulations of safety while on route so that everyone can enjoy their ride;
  • Provides customer service and information to passengers in a courteous and friendly manner;
  • Assists the Hay Wagon Driver when necessary;
  • Notes and reports any property damage or malfunctions promptly;
  • Helps maintain the Hay Wagon in a neat and tidy fashion; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:


  • Previous customer service experience is preferred

Skills:


  • Strong verbal communications skills;
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public

Special Clothing and Equipment:


  • The appropriate costume will be provided by the Costuming Department. The Costume Policy must be adhered to at all time.

Special Working Conditions:


  • The employee must be prepared to work in a variety of weather conditions;
  • Must be willing to perform a wide variety of tasks with varying physical requirements such as a considerable amount of standing, Boarding and offboarding the Hay Wagon frequently, protecting road crossings, and other strenuous duties.

Hours of Work:


  • Various scheduled hours of work including possible weekends, statutory holidays, fluctuating hours and overtime as required; and
  • The normal scheduled day is from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Safety and Security Standards/Expectations:


  • Must be able to familiarize oneself with Heritage Park Hay Wagon General Operating Rules, General Operating Instructions, and Safety Management System;
  • Must pass a first aid course and fire extinguisher course supplied by Heritage Park; and
  • Must be able to familiarise oneself with accident injury reporting as required by Heritage Park as well as Alberta Transportation.
