Exciting opportunity to join HCSS support people to live well in their homes and communities through our day-away program
HCSS runs many programs to help keep the community healthy and living well in their homes for as long as possible, including Adult Day Program, Meals on Wheels, Overnight Respite, Accessible and Volunteer Transportation, Friendly Visiting, Housekeeping and more.
This position is responsible for the design and implementation of recreation/social activities for the clients of the Day Away Program and works directly with the clients, including the provision of personal care during the program day.
The Programs & Activity Coordinators assist the team in providing an appropriate environment for the program's operation and assists in organizing, managing and supervising the daily schedule of client/volunteer activities.
This position may require staff to work at an alternative Day Away Program site once per week.All duties will be carried out in accordance with program policies and procedures and the mission of Home & Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the design and implementation of activities with the Day Away, Overnight Relief programs. This position takes a lead role providing guidance and direction to the Adult Day Program team. The Program & Activities Coordinator works directly with clients of these programs. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for clients, volunteers & staff.
The PAC plans activities and resources required for operation, and supervises the daily schedule of client/volunteer activities within the program.
This position is responsible for assisting with activities of daily living including client transfers and hygiene. Responsible for ensuring consistent communication between departments and for assist in communication with families as needed.Qualifications
- Post Secondary diploma in social recreation, gerontology or a healthrelated field and experience in adult day programming and/or community based services
- Able to work independently or as a member of a team
- Two years experience working in the social recreation field required
- Knowledge of Alzheimer 's disease and related disorders, and previous experience working with volunteers is an asset.
- Holistic Approach to recreation strategies including the Montessori methods for dementia
- Ability to contribute on a multifunctional team.
- Must work in a safe manner and promote Health and Safety of all staff and clients including Covid 19 ministry safety practices.
