  • Position Overview:
  • The primary role of the EMS intern student is to assist the Elder Mediation Services Coordinator with a variety of tasks as outlined below. EMS assists older adults, their families and others in their lives with Restorative Practice processes to address and discuss issues of conflict and crime which includes family, caregivers, neighbors and others. EMS assists with decision making including power of attorney, end of life, transitions, and wills. EMS addresses and supports situations of elder abuse through a restorative approach. EMS Peer Mentor program provides peer support to older adults experiencing loneliness and isolation. EMS also provides a Home Share program to connect older adults who are interested in sharing a home.
  • Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Work with a Supervisor and Mentor to assist with our Elder Mediation Services programming
  • Administrative Tasks
  • Data Entry
  • Case file and sensitive document and information management
  • Direct program experience
  • Customer Service Skills
  • Social Media support
  • Conflict Management experience
  • Provide support and services to older adults within Waterloo Region
  • Grow understanding of Restorative Justice
  • Hybrid work design available
