Reporting to the Manager, Facilities & Property, this position directs and co-ordinates the day-to-day work activities of the Senior Facility Operators, Facility Operators and Building Technician to ensure the effective and efficient operation and maintenance of municipal buildings and facilities under the jurisdiction of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department.

Responsible for minor capital projects within the portfolio and ensuring compliance with legislation and Town policies and protection of public health and safety.


How you contribute to our organization:

  • Provides supervision, coaching and mentoring and leads the staff of the Business Unit to meet performance standards for the delivery of programs and services. Chairs daily tailgate and staff meetings at regular intervals.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors regular, annual, and preventative maintenance programs including multiyear replacement programs supported by appropriate funding sources. Ensures all components of facilities are in good working order including structural, mechanical, electrical, security and life safety equipment and systems.
  • Plans and develops capital repairs and improvements for all facilities within the portfolio and provides onsite supervision of capital repair projects.
  • Ensures ice making and ice maintenance is carried out in order to supply a quality and safe ice surface to the public in accordance with required needs.
  • Procures facility maintenance supplies in accordance with the Corporate Purchasing Policy and ensures appropriate inventory control measures are in place.
  • Researches, recommends, and implements approved energysaving systems and energy management programs.
  • Provides assistance with the coordination and implementation of annual and seasonal work plans. Supervises all assigned projects on an ongoing basis. Meets the goals, objectives and the determined performance metrics of the Department.

What you bring to the team:

  • Have
  • 5 years progressive experience in facility and arena management including at least 2 years of staff supervisory experience in a municipal, fast paced team-oriented environment or equivalent education and experience that is acceptable to the Town
  • Be a supervisor with strong learning, collaboration, accountability, customer service, interpersonal and communication competencies, combined with analytical capability
  • Require a postsecondary degree or diploma in Facility, Buildings, Property and/or Arena Management or a Facility or Recreation industry designation or certification (FMP, CFM, FMC, CRFP)
  • Have
G Class driver's license, and ability to provide clean driver's abstract

  • Demonstrate aptitude for systems and components (including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, energy management, etc.).
  • Have
thorough working knowledge of Ontario legislation/regulations affecting the portfolio including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Building and Fire Codes, Occupiers Liability Act, and other applicable building and property safety-related legislation/regulations/guidelines.

  • Have
proven knowledge and experience in developing a long-term building components inventory and life-cycle repair, replacement, and capital planning.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of computer maintenance management systems and development of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Have
proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Working knowledge and experience with project and asset management, and scheduling software would be considered an asset.


Salary:
$89, $111,62.40, plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan

Hours: 40 hours per week
