Basic Function

Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), a company within the HF Sinclair group, situated in Mississauga, Ontario, is in search of a full-time Operations Shift Supervisor for a permanent position. Reporting directly to the Area Team Leader, the Shift Supervisor will be in charge of leading a shift team to ensure the Lubricants Plant operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental regulations. Additionally, the role involves being the management point of contact during off shifts and weekends.

Job Duties

Responsible for supervising on-shift operators, including performance management, scheduling, and administering the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Emphasizes safe and respectful behaviors, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards
Maintains Emergency Response readiness and acts as On Scene Commander during emergencies
Leads or takes part in Incident Investigations
Monitors and optimizes operations for production targets and efficiency
Assesses and manages risks related to personnel, processes, and equipment
Addresses community concerns, involving regulatory bodies when necessary
Facilitates plant-wide communication and engages with various stakeholders internally and externally

Undertakes additional tasks and projects assigned by the supervisor at their discretion

Experience

Relevant experience in operating plant facilities (petrochemical or refinery background)
Technical proficiency in refinery processes
Demonstrated leadership skills
Minimum of 10 years experience in industrial operations within a petrochemical or refinery setting
Emergency response background is advantageous

Education Level

High School Diploma required
Post-Secondary Education (college diploma or university degree) in a related field preferred

Required Skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment, focusing on safety, communication, and continuous improvement
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Capable of coaching, motivating, and mentoring team members
Good decision-making abilities, leveraging the skills and knowledge of team members collaboratively
Adherence to established safety practices to enhance Plant safety

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Directly supervises a shift team

Work Conditions

Work is primarily within a production/plant setting
This is a Safety Sensitive position
