The Director of Data Analytics and Health information Management (HIM) is currently seeking a Temporary Full Time Business Intelligence Lead.

The purpose of the position is to assist the Director of Data Analytics and HIM by providing technical business intelligence leadership and expertise on analytic solutions to meet the information needs and strategic goals of the organization.


Please Note:
This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Perform detailed analysis of source data systems and create efficient processes to transform data to the data warehouse
  • Determine the best type of visualizations/dashboards or reports needed to answer business questions.
  • Work closely with the team and engage with others in the organization to understand business needs
  • Documents business requirements in the form of specifications (functional and technical), validates accuracy and obtains necessary input for approval.
  • Acting as a consultant, provides expert advice, coaching and feedback on the work of others as it relates to capturing, analyzing, reporting and understanding data and information organization.
  • Supports, follows and contributes to information governance and data standards established by the organization
  • Assist the Director of Data Analytics and Health Information Management in the development and implementation of an annual data and analytics work plan
  • Maintains current knowledge of data and analytic leading practices in healthcare and provides coaching and mentoring to team members according to current leading practices
  • Maintain and develops materials to enhance work performance, such as communications, reference material, and reporting tools
  • Serves as a project lead for assigned projects and quality improvement initiatives, including developing, monitoring, and evaluating project plans and deliverables.
  • Manager has the right to assign additional responsibilities

Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree is required in the field of epidemiology, health information systems, computer science, computer programming or a related field.
  • 35 years' experience in an analytic role (previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred).
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferable
  • Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records preferable
  • Current knowledge of and experience with SQL programming skills and a solid understanding of databases, strong skills with SSAS, SSRS, SSIS and SSMS with demonstrated proficiency writing SQL stored procedures, and queries.
  • The ability to analyze data and determine/implement data enrichment or aggregation techniques Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
  • Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
  • Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
