The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (SUS) is a BC Not-For-Profit Society representing and serving UFV students.

The Society manages the Student Union Building and facilitates services such as the UFV U-PASS, food services, and the student health and dental plan.

SUS also provides support to an active community by organizing events and provides wellness and developmental programming.

As the official representative body of UFV students, o_ur mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services.

We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive.

POSITION:
UPASS ASSISTANT - PROGRAMS & SERVICES


Work Schedule:
Part-time (up to 10 hours a week)


Contract Term:
Immediate - April 2023


Compensation:
$15.65/hour


Reporting to:
Services Coordinator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The UPASS Assistant has specific responsibility for a variety of functions, including but not limited to the following:

  • Distributing the physical UPASS to students at the Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Trades & Technology campuses;
  • Assisting as directed regarding the effective delivery and quality of SUS Services;
  • Contributing to the knowledge base for SUS virtual/online communication services;
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment;
  • Adhering to UFV and SUS bylaws, policies, and procedures and
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by the Services Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Oral & Written Communication:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;

Interpersonal Communication:
Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team and connect with students and with external organizations;

Problem Solving:
Ability to think critically and provide solutions under pressure;

Knowledge of UFV:
Knowledge of the UFV campuses, courses, and SUS policies would be an asset;

Work Ethic:
Professional work ethic, exercising good judgment, initiative, and a high degree of professionalism;

Confidentiality:
Able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information;


CHILLIWACK AND TRADES & TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS SCHEDULE**All applicants
must be available to work (a 5-6 hour shift between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm) on the following dates at the Chilliwack Campus or Trades & Technology Campus (as requested) to be considered for the position:
