Position Summary
The Shipper's main responsibility is to pick orders and move material from the finished goods storage locations and safely load it onto outside carrier trucks.
Working in a team environment, the Shipper will also be responsible for meeting schedules, and ensuring that all aspects of work are done with an eye to Safety, Quality, & Production.
What you'll do:
- Report quality concerns and nonconformances immediately to Lead Hand
- Safely load and unload all trucks including all nonsteel deliveries
- Review the Order Log at the beginning of the shift and throughout the day
- Produce economical loads for shipping by compiling the shipping orders
- Ensure all material ships with the appropriate paperwork required by the customer
- Ensure proper tag numbers and products are loaded on to trucks
- Maintain a clean and organized yard
What you'll need:
- 2 years of experience in a shipping environment is an asset
- High school graduate
- Proficient in speaking and writing English
- Personal attributes include ethical, openminded, observant, and tenacious
- Quick learner and Team Player who takes initiative and is capable of meeting deadlines
- Possessing a valid lift truck training certification is a requirement
- Knowledge and experience with tools such as, measuring tape, cutting shears, and strapping machine
Working Conditions:
- Able to work in a fastpaced and teamoriented plant environment
- Able to perform tasks in a multitemperature environment/condition
- Able to lift products weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Able to adhere to all safety policies
