Job Description:
The Canadian Actuarial Department of Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for an Actuary to join our Toronto office. This position will provide corporate actuarial, reserving and analytics support to the Canadian Actuarial Department.
This position will work closely with all functional areas of the business and will have the opportunity to support other Everest entities in IFRS17 implementation.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Support Canadian Appointed Actuary in OSFI statutory work (AA Report, ORSA, FCT). This includes creating new actuarial models and regulatory exhibits for IFRS17 compliance.
- Take ownership of Everest Re IFRS17 Prophet model. Continuously enhance model to improve accuracy, efficiency and performance.
- Deliver quarterly IFRS17 runs and ensure results are timely and accurate. Respond to Finance, ETS and regulatory requests.-
- Support IFRS17 implementation for Everest Insurance Canada and Everest Re Singapore (may include other global entities in future).
- Deliver reserve studies and quarterly reserve rollforwards.
- Perform quarterly financial analyses including IBNR allocation, discounting and duration calculations to support Finance in quarterly reporting.
- Develop streamlined and efficient processes for regulatory reporting and perform data exploration as needed to ensure data is complete, accurate and adequate.
- Enhance and maintain management analytics dashboards and reports.
- May provide support to actuarial pricing during heavy renewal season.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related area
- Years of experience:
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Technical expertise of IFRS17 topics including PAA and GMA, assumptions, data requirements and financial statement presentation.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with peers, management and different business functions.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and regions through regular communication with colleagues in other locations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience presenting to Underwriting and management.
- A businessoriented focus (motivated, selfdirected, organized, and analytical).
- Flexible and responsive to dynamic business needs including tight turnaround times.
