Job Overview:


We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrument Technician (E&I Tech) to join our company's SAGD site, West Ells Facility
Preference will be given to Fort McMurray residents but open to all applicants.


This is a site-based position working 12 hours per day, and a 14/14 rotation.


As an Electrical and Instrument Technician reporting to the Field Operations Manager, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of instruments and equipment used at site This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical knowledge and attention to detail.


Duties:


  • Performing repairs, maintenance and troubleshoot electrical, electrical and control equipment and emission monitoring instrumentation;
  • Installation, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protective relays, computers, metering, monitoring and control systems on gas turbines, generators and plant auxiliary equipment;
  • Inspects and test operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments;
  • Performing mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification while having the ability to remove and install small piping and tubing;
  • Calibrating transmitters and control valves; tune controllers;
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete test and maintenance reports;
  • Carry out machine setups, pipefitting and hydraulic repairs;
  • Work involving the use of surface grinders;
  • Preventative maintenance inspections and machine safety checks;
  • Should be familiar with heavy industrial equipment including; pumps, air compressors and blowers, mixing equipment, and extrusion process equipment;
  • Capably use all tools associated within the qualified trade and machinery in a safe manner;
  • Capable of training, instruction and direction to all members;
  • Must know and keep familiar all national, provincial and local codes as they affect repair, maintenance, safety, construction, and dismantling of machinery, equipment and structures;
  • Work with other employees in emergency situations, plant shut down periods, and in times when machinery is not operating to perform all necessary activities and get equipment operational in minimum time;
  • Readily available for additional work if required (overtime);
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus;
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experiences as an E&I Technician or similar role ;
  • Maintenance experience in Oil and Gas facilities;
  • Strong knowledge of industry maintenance practices and procedures;
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail; and
  • Valid Drivers License.

Ticket Requirements:

  • H2S Alive or Awareness; CSTS 2020; WHMIS 2015; Fall Arrest and Lifting training is and asset.
