What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Research, gather and analyze data
  • Present findings in analytical summaries
  • Monitor the mining and exploration industries and interpret trends
  • Maintain, update and modify software including statistical databases
  • Design data collection formats
  • Identify systems needs and provide specifications for systems development
  • Present information on the exploration and mining industries

How do I qualify?:


Technical Expertise:


  • You have knowledge of statistical theory and principles, research and analytical methodologies and procedures
  • You are familiar with the structure of the mining and exploration industries in Ontario
  • You understand the market dynamics of mineral commodities

Analytical, Research, Problem-Solving and Reasoning Skills:

  • You can carry out analyses of data to identify correlations, variations and trends
  • You can identify data and systems needs and recommend data collection options
  • You can analyze information and determine how data requirements can be met through data retrieval
  • You can use your problemsolving and reasoning skills to perform risk assessments regarding the viability and integrity of the database

Computer Skills:


  • You can identify systems needs for data collection and data processing
  • You can develop and maintain databases

Communication Skills:


  • You have well developed communication skills to advise, interpret and present information
  • You can discuss technical information to both technical and nontechnical staff
  • You have proven written communication skills and can develop reports of a technical/analytical nature
  • You have an ability to encourage cooperation from others to assist with data gathering initiatives
