Description

As a Journeyman/Woman Carpenter, you will have the ability to construct, erect, install, maintain and repair structures and components of structures made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.

You are expected to be detail oriented and be knowledgeable on different carpentry materials. You must have the ability to work with a team, as well as independently.

The Journeyman/Woman Carpenter must be able to work under pressure, and meet required deadlines, on a wide variety of projects.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
May prepare cost estimates for clients.

Qualifications & Education:

Journeyman/Woman carpenter ticket a huge asset
Extensive knowledge of power tools
Knowledge of lumber grades and countertop materials
Demonstrated proactive approaches to problemsolving with strong decisionmaking capability
Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 50 pounds
Willingness to work overtime, when necessary, to deliver the project on time
Highly resourceful teamplayer, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment
Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
Valid Driver's License
