KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the completion of the daily duties of the payroll team along with the completion of biweekly payroll, including journal entries and reconciliation's.
  • Ensures accurate account balances and compliance with all Christenson Communities Policies
  • Ensure compliance to all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines such as EHT, CPP, EI, WCB, Income Tax, pension & benefit contributions, etc.
  • Assist with the yearend reconciliation processes including: Government reporting; Preparation of annual returns; Production and distribution of tax forms.
  • Fosters an environment that emphasizes knowledge sharing.
  • Encourages cross area cooperation, collaboration and communication to create consensus and accomplish objectives.
  • Ensure that all payroll information, files, and records are maintained in accordance with corporate policies and local statutes.
  • Liaise with Canada Life ensuring reporting is complete for Benefits and RRSP administration.

  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all staff members and departments.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent employee information.
  • Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant inservices regarding occupational health and safety. Follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Education & Experience:


  • Minimum 5 years experience working in Payroll & Benefits Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years' recent experience with an integrated payroll system.
  • CPM designation or working towards this with the Canadian Payroll Association would be an asset.
  • Experience with Benefits and RRSP Administration
  • Working with Canada Life would be considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance.

Additional Information:


  • Ability to travel to sites within Alberta (<10%)
  • Ability to work hybrid office and work from home options available
  • Salary range is $60k$75k annually
  • Health & Dental Benefits, RRSP, EAFP
  • Experience with UKG (Ultimate Software/Kronos) an asset
