- Primary point of contact for the organization on regulatory and legislative import requirements.
- Design and development of internal audits to ensure compliance with Customs regulations as well as identifying opportunities for duty reduction.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Customs Department.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide guidance on customs requirements, resolve issues, and optimize processes.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in customs operations to inform project decisions and drive innovation.
- Liaise with customs officials on requests and audits.
- Direct and supervise the planning, execution, and evaluation of customs initiatives, while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluate the risk associated with various import and export activities and identify potential areas of non-compliance.
- Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, laws, and procedures to ensure compliance at all times.
- Champion the implementation of customs compliance principles within the Auditor team, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement training programs for the Customs team.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation.
- 5-8 years of experience in Customs Compliance.
- 2-3 years of leadership experience.
- In-depth knowledge /experience with U.S and Canadian Customs
- Knowledge / experience with Customs rulings and Customs Self-Assessment (CSA).
- Exceptional organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- Comfortable working toward multiple deadlines at the same time.
- Project management exposure.
- Ability to manage relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Proven self-starter with strong initiative.
