Currently, OTC is looking for a full-time Senior Civil Engineer, Tribal Council based in Rama , Ontario.Reporting to the Executive Director, you will oversee, direct, manage and coordinate all program functions and activities of the Technical Services Department while providing direct professional engineering advisory services to the member First Nations during pre-planning, planning, design, construction, and maintenance of community infrastructure works and facilities.
Conducting assistance with preparing terms of reference for contracting Professional ServicesSupporting the tendering, contract award process, and successful implementation of the same
Advising, coordinating, and supervising environmental screening for capital projects
Overseeing OTC inspection services, aiding in yearly capital program implementation for community facilities and infrastructure
Collaborating with other technical services providers and defining project scope, estimating costs, establishing milestones
Developing an implementation plan/management regime for all Minor Capital projects, as requested
Working alongside the OTC Infrastructure Specialist to provide fire advisory services to First Nations
Offering technical assistance with Community Capital Planning
Providing advice and recommendations in pre-planning, planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining community infrastructure
Aiding with construction development plans and supporting Project Management
Contributing expertise in upgrading and expanding existing facility infrastructure
In your advisory role, you will demonstrate hands-on expertise through active participation in weekly in-community meetings with member's Chief and Council, community members, and organizations.
As an auxiliary representative during discussions with senior officials from industry and government, you will advocate for and advise First Nation community members.
To qualify, you must be a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (PEng) , or in the process of becoming one , with a minimum of 3 years' experience working with First Nation Government and/or Communities .
Preference will be given to candidates with a background or degree in Civil Engineering.Profound understanding of OTC First Nation Cultures and community aspirations
Demonstrated proficiency in policy, planning, and technical services development
Excellent grasp of federal and provincial legislation/policies impacting First Nation government, along with contemporary knowledge of public sector operating systems and procedures
Demonstrated results-oriented proficiency in technical management and implementation
Excellent Project Management skills, capable of establishing and effectively achieving measurable objectives within directed work plans; Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Office Suite, spreadsheets, and related engineering technical software preferably in a Microsoft environment
Holds a valid Class G Ontario Driver's License, reliable transportation, and public liability insurance ($2 million)
