Role Responsibilities
The Manager for Licensing Office plays a crucial role in the Licensing and Compliance Monitoring Branch (LCMB) and Continuing Care Division.
Reporting to the Director, this position has a provincial scope. It is responsible for building relationships and linkages with other parts of the unit, branch, division, ministry, other government departments, stakeholders, and residents or their representatives of supportive living and long-term care accommodations. This position is essential to all operational activities within the Licensing and Compliance Monitoring Branch. The work that the Manager performs is evaluated for provincial consistency through a risk management lens. The Manager exercises duties with limited direction from Director regarding site specific issues and will escalate issues/trends/gaps of a politically sensitive nature to the Director.
The Manager also provides support, direction, training, consultation and supervision to a team of licensing processors, complaints intake officers, and licensing liaison officer to ensure timely triaging of concerns or complaints and licensing/inspection/audit documentation is processed following accepted practices and within guidelines prescribed by departmental policy, procedures and legislation.
This role ensures consistent administration of licenses according to legislation, policy and procedures. In addition, the Manager monitors and evaluates risks related to licensing, supports and recommends resource budgets, timelines and suggests corrective actions to improve business value delivery.
As the Manager of the Licensing Office, the first point of contact, you will play a crucial role in the appeals process by meticulously reviewing information forwarded in any appeals request and the documents received in an appeal package. The responsibility includes ensuring timely and accurate forwarding of appeals package to the Director, contributing to the efficiency of the decision making process.
APS Competencies
Competencies are behaviors that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans. We encourage you to have an in depth understanding of the competencies that are required for this opportunity and to be prepared to demonstrate them during the recruitment process.
