A clinical scholar is an experienced nurse, involved in current nursing practice in one of the identified specialty areas, who is engaged to facilitate learning at the bedside in the clinical setting and will support new nurses for successful transition into practice. Clinical Scholars support new graduate nurses, internationally educated nurses, and nurses upskilling to new clinical areas to gain competence and confidence in nursing care. 48_Human Resources Created with Sketch.Assist
Reporting to the Director of Professional Practice and with oversight by the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Scholar will assist new RNs and RPNs to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for practice within the clinical environment as a novice level nurse. The Clinical Scholar will act as a bedside resource and a role model for new nurses while being responsible for maintaining positive relationships with the various teams to enhance the learning experience. 48_Performance Created with Sketch.Performance

Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a registered nurse in good standing. Demonstrated current clinical nursing skill expertise in one of the identified specialty areas. A minimum of 5 years' experience in one of the identified specialty areas. Previous experience in clinical education/teaching/precepting of nursing students and/or new staff, or other relevant teaching experience. 48_Assessment Created with Sketch.Skills
Demonstrated leadership, change management, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated good attendance and performance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.
