General Position Description:


The City of Waterloo has three exciting Seasonal Labourer positions available in the City Utilities division commencing in April or May for up to an eight (8) month term.

Shift work may be required based upon operational requirements, including evenings, weekends and holidays.


Accountabilities:


  • Operate and perform daily checks on vehicles and equipment, including documentation of any issues and daily log documentation
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation, care and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles
  • Maintain proper written and/or electronic records of activities as required
  • Communicate and cooperate effectively with others, respecting the values of the corporation, both internally and externally
  • Perform other duties as assigned

General Job Requirements:


  • Minimum of Grade 12 Education or equivalent
  • 13 years of experience in a related field involving manual physical labour and operation of power tools, vehicles and equipment
  • Valid MTO 'G' class driver's license in good standing with driver's abstract acceptable to the City is required to perform the job; MTO 'DZ' class driver's license would be considered an asset.
  • MECP Operator In Training (OIT) certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection would be considered an asset
  • Handson experience with the installation and maintenance of wastewater collection systems, water distribution systems, and stormwater systems is considered an asset
  • Strong customer service, time management and communication skills
  • Capable of performing the physical demands of the position, which may include lifting, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling and standing on a regular basis
  • Willing and able to work in an outdoor environment and actively participate in daily activities in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Motivated, hardworking and able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Satisfactory Police Record and Judicial Matters Check and Drivers Abstract Check is a condition of hire

Hours of Work:
Shifts will generally be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM; May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
