We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of
Applied Academy Program Lead.

The location is flexible for any metropolitan area applied operates in:

Greater Vancouver Area (Delta), Calgary, Edmonton/Nisku, Greater Toronto Area (Downsview), Montreal, Quebec City and is also a remote work opportunity (see specifics below).

  • HR & EHS, the Applied Academy Program Lead will take the lead in running the newly developed and launched Applied Academy a foundational piece of the Talent Development strategy for AIT Canada.


The successful individual will be responsible for full leadership and ownership of planning, coordinating, program development and being responsible for ownership of the Applied Academy - the framework behind all things Talent Development at Applied Canada.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for identifying talent development needs and building the Applied Academy from concept to reality, including assessing current training gaps and future training requirements.
  • Key individual responsible for leadership of all administration and logistics of the Academy scheduling and programing (with the support of a Training Coordinator on the team)
  • End to end management and coordination on multiple talent development projects (Applied Academy and subinitiatives), ensuring initiatives are well planned, executed and delivered on time and within scope, and appropriately reflect and align with the needs and strategy of the organization.
  • Ability to spearhead steering committees responsible for building Applied Academy Accelerator Technical Programs which will be launched in the coming years; including but not limited to driving design, providing insights on best practice, collaborating with technical experts, building budgets and completing program documentation builds
  • Act as the key point of contact for all training and development enquiries and initiatives.
  • Liaise with internal and external sources (i.e. industry suppliers/resources training and development consultants, instructional designers, trainers, US OE team) to build talent development program.
  • Develop and maintain communication plan for effective program updates and information to key stakeholders.
  • Conduct nontechnical training as required and in line with personal skill set
  • Partner with the site GM/Managers, Senior Leaders (within the corporate functions), technical trainers as well as the HR to analyze the effectiveness of current training and development initiatives and determine where gaps and opportunities exist to address high priority needs.
  • Develop appropriate learning impact KPIs, metrics/dashboards, and budgets to measure and track performance of programs.

Education & Experience:


  • Minimum of 7 years of organization and talent development and/or project management experience
  • Postsecondary education with a concentration on either training/professional development and/or organizational development.
  • Proven track record of driving visibility and accountability for training within an organization.
  • Demonstrated success in project management with the ability develop, organize and manage multiple initiatives.

Specific Skills:


  • Exceptional critical thinking to help identify educational gaps, analyze findings and make recommendations while articulating next steps.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and work in a collaborative manner with multiple stakeholders managers, employees, leadership, etc.
  • Ability to establish credibility as an internal training and development thought leader.
  • Creativity and experience bringing new programs and ideas to fruition.
  • Ability to translate strategic vision into tactical action, identify the highest impact ideas and plans and focus efforts by resource allocation.
  • High level of personal accountability coupled with the ability to work independently.
  • Prioritization and organizational skills with the attention to detail required for managing multiple priorities, deadlines and key deliverables at the same time
