Under the leadership of the Recreation Manager, the Recreation Therapy Aide ensures residents are provided with appropriate therapy service in accordance with current recreation therapy practices, as well as facilitates and implements programs for the residents.

The incumbent in the position fosters and maintains effective relationships with care staff, residents and family members and other staff working in the facility.

The incumbent also acts as a role model and ambassador for the Mission and Values of the Foundation.


Qualifications:


Education:
Post-secondary or Recreational Aide course work is preferred

Experience:

Previous experience providing therapy to geriatric and disabled populations, and those with various cognitive impairments who reside within a long term care setting.

Consideration may be given to individuals with experience supporting other populations. Experience in leading individual and group situations is essential.


Special Knowledge/Skills:


  • Act as an advocate for resident needs and choices.
  • Flexible in accommodating residents' needs.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of resident, family and staff information.
  • Computer skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrates customer service and residentcentered care.
  • Works within the Mission and Values of the Foundation.
  • Criminal records check (Vulnerable Sector)

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent


Salary:
$17.00-$22.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Weekends as needed
