Job Summary

The Estimator reports to the Director of Preconstruction and is responsible for supporting the estimating team across multiple projects in the pre-construction stage.

Responsibilities

Pre-Construction Coordination

  • Detailed drawing reviews
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and award subconsultants
  • Prepare site markup sequencing plans
Budgeting
  • Complete quantity takeoffs of construction materials
  • Populate project budgets
  • Communicate with key trade partners
  • Review value engineering options
Tendering
  • Prepare and send out tender packages
  • Ensure trade pricing coverage
  • Update trade partners on RFIs
  • Compile trade quotations and complete tender evaluations
  • Prepare tender award recommendations
  • Conduct tender award meetings
Subtrade and Supplier Database
  • Maintain trade and supplier master lists
  • Assess reliability and cost comparison
  • Prequalify new trades and suppliers
Personal
  • Maintain good relationships with sub trades
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • 1-3 years experience in construction estimating
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze and provide solutions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • PlanSwift and Procore Experience an asset
