Description:


The Dean of the Department of Healthcare serves as the chief academic and administrative officer, as such, should provide vision and leadership to the College.


Areas of responsibility in this position include articulating a strategic vision; managing the strategic planning process; ensuring academic integrity in college programs; overseeing faculty and staff selection, retention, promotion and evaluation processes; encouraging and supporting excellence in teaching, research/scholarly activity and service; promoting collegiality and collaborative relationships internally and externally; managing the fiscal well-being of the college; and promoting alumni relations.


The Department of Healthcare provides students with the essential elements of liberal education and offers post-secondary programs and graduate-certificate programs; a focused and carefully designed approach to student advising and learning; and a faculty of caring experts and scholars.

A primary goal of the College is to educate students for the knowledge-based economy of the twenty-first century.


Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree and above
  • 15+ years working experience in the related field
  • 10+ years working experience in post secondary education institutions
  • Proficient with essential Project Management skills and tools.
  • Evidence of strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • A distinguished record of accomplishment in the areas of teaching, research, and service that would merit an appointment as a tenured faculty member in one of the departments of the college.
  • A record of progressively more responsible administrative experience.
  • A record of commitment to program growth and academic excellence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership, inclusive excellence, and personal and professional integrity.

Responsibilities for the Dean include:


  • Design, develop, and manage program curriculum.
  • Administer and oversee the recruitment, appointment, review, and professional development of faculty and staff.
  • Provide internal leadership and mentorship to department chairs, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Foster an environment of innovation, collegiality, collaboration, inclusivity and support where faculty, staff and students thrive.
  • Assure ongoing quality and continuous improvement in the college's academic program array at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and in both traditional and online programs.
  • Work collegially and collaboratively with leadership across campus to support the priorities of the college.
  • Provide leadership to initiatives that foster and enhance inclusive excellence and multicultural and global competence in the college.
  • Supervise the management, development, and evaluation of curriculum for the college; design and implement the academic plan as it relates to the Department of Healthcare.
  • Promotes and fosters professional development activities related to academic leadership, classroom instruction, instructional technology, and support staff development.
  • Nurture and continue to support faculty teaching effectiveness and innovation, and perform assigned teaching responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
