    General
    A position for a Cook is available at Radiant Care Pleasant Manor Food Services department. The starting date for this role will be determined.

    Scheduled Shifts

    Employees with a casual status can choose their own schedules. Radiant Care provides an online system for selecting shifts, which are then assigned based on seniority. Team members with a casual status are also called upon to cover for sick leaves and vacations.
    Working on a casual basis is a fantastic way to begin a career with Radiant Care. Casual employees are considered for part-time and full-time roles before external candidates. After passing probation, casual employees become permanent members of the team and are part of the union.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications for this role include, but are not limited to:

    • Completion of the Public Health Units Food Safety Awareness program
    • Culinary Management Diploma or Chef's training
    • Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP

    Eligibility and Selection Criteria
    This job opportunity is available internally and externally. Internal applicants will be given priority based on seniority, while external candidates will be selected through interviews. Only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be responsible for fulfilling the duties outlined in the Cook job description. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Reviewing menus and preparing equipment for food preparation
    • Preparing meals following standardized recipes
    • Providing for prescribed diets
    • Ensuring timely and proper meal service
    • Monitoring food supplies and kitchen equipment
    • Directing Dietary Aides in food preparation and serving
    • Keeping records and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen
    • Supporting quality management programs
    • Attending educational programs and meetings
