- Visual Language Interpreter Role: The Visual Language Interpreter facilitates communication between deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing students by providing interpretive services in and out of the classroom.
- Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary program in Sign Language Interpretation and at least one year related experience
- Active member of Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters (WAVLI)
- Skills and Requirements:
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and community resources
- Experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals
- Ability to adjust communication levels according to students' needs
- Supporting students in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP)
- Flexible to meet the varying needs of students
- Compensation:
- Long-term assignments: $37.67 per hour plus benefits package
- Casual On-Call positions: $37.67 per hour with no benefits
- Opportunities to apply for long-term assignments
