Health and Safety Advisor - Mississauga, Canada - MultiTech Trades Corp.
Description
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing support in planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining of MultiTech Trades Corp health and safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for its employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all Health and Safety Records and files
- Gather workplace inspections, incident reports, mock drills, JHAs, site specific hazard assessments, and all other relevant documentations
- Seeking to continuously improve the company's safety culture through new practices and innovation
- Complete data entry as required including tracking and compiling statistics
- Maintain contractor management and vendor files including: Pulling clearance letters, attaining certificate of insurance, and ensuring all orientation and training documents are reviewed and filed.
- Perform data collection, analyze and collate that data for operational reports
- Responsible for incident tracking and statistics.
- Develop and update forms for use in the H & S department to keep up with standards
- Collaborate and work closely with Health and Safety Manager
- Liaise with external legal authorities when responding to complaints
- Provide employee safety training and awareness on current and upcoming legislation
- Review weekly equipment inspections and follow up on repairs
- Assist with investigation of nearmisses, incidents and accidents
- Assist the Occupational Health & Safety Manager with WSIB claims
- Track the status of modified work schedules and their respective WSIB claims
- Ensure Form 7 is completed for all incidents
- Work on site as required
Qualifications:
- Degree or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or similar
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation in the Construction industry
- Previous knowledge of COR Certification a strong asset
- Ability to work alone and prioritize tasks accordingly
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Strong communication skills, oral and written
- Ability to influence others to follow safety rules and regulations
- Ability to stay Patient and calm in emergency situations
- Strong problemsolving skills
- Strong emergency response skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Must possess a vehicle and valid driver's license to travel between the office and sites
- CPR/First Aid Certification is an asset

- Mississauga, ON L5N 5N1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Health & Safety: 3 years (preferred)
- Construction: 3 years (preferred)
