    Position Summary

    As a key member of the Clinical Neurophysiology Department, the Neurophysiology Technologist plays a crucial role primarily at Toronto Western Hospital.

    Duties

  • Utilizing knowledge of anatomy and physiology to perform Electroencephalogram/Magnetoencephalography (EEG, MEG & EMG) and other special electrodiagnostic procedures in an inpatient setting, as per established standards
  • Operating, troubleshooting, and ensuring efficient equipment performance
  • Preparing necessary reports to document procedures and test results
  • Engaging in teaching, training, and educational activities
  • Supporting optimal patient care through related responsibilities
  • Following Hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Upholding Hospital and departmental values while maintaining patient privacy
  • Handling cross-functional duties as required
  • Qualifications

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree program (Biology, Kinesiology, Neuroscience etc.) or equivalent
  • Three to Five years of relevant practical experience
  • Preference for registration with the Canadian Board of Registered EEG Technologist (CBRET) or American Electrodiagnostic Technologist (ASET)
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (CAET) is beneficial
  • Knowledge of 10/20 measuring system, impedance check, and electrical safety standards
  • Ability to analyze EEG recordings and recognize seizure activity visually
  • Required multitasking abilities in monitoring multiple patients simultaneously
  • Strong decision-making skills to identify cases needing intervention
  • Experience with EMG and Nerve Conduction studies is advantageous
  • Professionalism, initiative, good judgment, and effective communication skills
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative and organizational policies
