Job Summary
The Safety Manager (or Safety Leader) at Caliber Projects Ltd. is a full-time position overseeing all of Caliber's construction sites.

The position is best suited for someone who thoroughly understands safe job practises and safe work procedures in the multi-family residential construction sector, is a hands-on type person with excellent character, has excellent communication and leadership skills and has the ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment.

The Safety Manager reports to the Director of Construction and is responsible for leading all of our teams to a safety first culture where we truly care about the physical and mental health of all workers in accordance with Caliber Projects Occupational Health and Safety Program.


Responsibilities:


  • The responsibilities of the Safety Manager include:
  • Provide oversight, implementation and leadership to Caliber Projects Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • Understand and ensure adherence to all required safety policies as directed by Caliber's Health & Safety Program and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Regulations.
  • Ensure that the Caliber Projects Occupational Health and Safety Manual is adhered to and implemented and maintained.
  • Perform formal inspections of all work areas with site specific Safety Officers to ensure complete compliance with Caliber Safety Program
  • Support site teams with the identification of hazards and implementation of risk mitigation controls.
  • Ensure that Caliber Training Matrix is updated and that all employee training and certifications are current and saved in their specific employee files. Ensure that all COR certification paperwork is filed and updated and that COR is maintained yearoveryear
  • Attend weekly site visits and complete inspections of the site and ensure documentation compliance with the Superintendents and Safety Officers
  • Liaise with the Director of Construction and General Superintendent related to safety concerns with Caliber Employees
  • Provide leadership and support to team of safety officers in regard to their personal career growth and education plans.
  • Provide input to our overall strategic safety planning with respect to growth of the company.
  • Provide to Director of Construction yearly budget for company health and safety
  • Ensure PROCORE is used effectively across all Caliber's Projects, and that all Safety Officers are trained in its functionality
  • Chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee and be responsible for liaising between worker and employer reps
  • Equip the Safety Officers with any equipment they need, and ensure they keep their work areas clean, tidy and professional
  • Be involved in all incident investigations taking place on Caliber Jobsites
  • Set an exceptional safety example
