meet the following criteria:

academic institution at which you are currently enrolled (proof will be required).

Duties:


This employment opportunity is for a research project on the cumulative effects assessment of marine activity on Indigenous communities along the St.

Lawrence River.

The Research Assistant, under the supervision of Transport Canada's Environmental Management Division's Senior Environmental Advisor in Ottawa and Professor Roxane Lavoie of the École supérieure d'aménagement du territoire et de développement régional at Université Laval, will have the mandate to:

  • Begin the work with a literature review of various projects covering the cumulative effects of marine vessel activities.
  • Contribute to the coconstruction of the research project, including the methodology, with the Indigenous partners.
  • Plan and organize interviews and workshops with community members.
  • Explore different ways of knowledge sharing.
  • Compile, process and analyze shared knowledge.
  • Write reports, presentations and professional and scientific communications.
  • Participate in meetings and working groups related to the research project.
  • Make public presentations on the research project.
  • Collaborate with the research team for the successful completion of the project.

Work environment:


  • The position reports to Transport Canada headquarters in Ottawa, but the work will be done in cooperation with Université Laval. Some duties may be performed at the University in Québec City.
  • Teleworking will be allowed as needed, according to organizational guidelines and at the discretion of supervisors.
  • The assistant will sometimes travel to the communities involved.
  • The duration of the trips may vary (average between 2 and 4 days).
  • The work schedule is to be defined with the assistant and may vary between 30 and 35 hours per week.

Degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in Environment, Geography, Land Management, Social Science, or any other degree relevant to the project

Full-time enrolment in a graduate studies program at Université Laval in one of the following fields of specialization:

  • Earth Sciences
  • Geography
  • Land Management
  • Land Development
Degree equivalency


EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in universitylevel research.
  • Experience collecting, compiling and and analysing data

ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to demonstrate substantial openness
