The Environmental Planner's key responsibilities include:
Work with and support Senior Environmental Planners, mentor more junior staff on Environmental Assessment (EA) projects (Municipal and Transit projects, and Environmental Impact Statements/Environmental Effect Evaluations for municipal, provincial, and federal projects.)
- Be involved in a range of infrastructure projects including report writing, evaluation of alternatives and development of project consultation programs
- Client Liaison
- Coordination of subconsultants Lead/coordinate EA processes
Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience
- Postsecondary education in any of: planning, environmental science/studies, biology/ecology, geography, or related field
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in as a part of a multidisciplinary project team and independently
- Working knowledge of Environmental Assessments including Municipal Class EA, Transit Project Assessment Process, Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, Ministry of Transportation Class EA Process
- Familiar with environmental permitting and approvals process
- Strong technical writing skills
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal environmental policies, legislation and applicable law
- Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- French language considered an asset
- Private sector/consulting experience considered an asset
