The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province.

The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Retail Operations, encompassing the three retail business units of Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations, is responsible for the daily operations of the 198 BC Liquor Stores.

The Retail division develops and executes key strategies to drive business, creates systems and processes, and establishes daily retail procedures to maximize operational excellence, while upholding BCLDB's core values of service, relationships, and results.

About this role:


Reporting to the Senior Manager, eCommerce & Digital, the Manager, Digital Content & Social Media is responsible for designing, planning, managing, implementing, and evaluating BCLIQUOR's social media and eNews activities to ensure BCL's business and marketing goals are achieved.

This role is responsible for leading and managing a cross-platform content strategy for the BCL social channels such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, etc.

as well as for eNews and the website in order to build an engaged community online and drive traffic to BCL's 198 locations and future ecommerce platform.

This includes designing, developing, and implementing the digital content strategy and tactics in collaboration with a social media agency and the BCL social media team.

The Manager, Digital Content & Social Media will develop the SEO/SEM strategy and plan, ensuring that best practices are incorporated in the overall content strategy.

This position is also responsible for ensuring consistent brand content is executed across BCL digital platforms, aligning to the BCL brand identity and vision in collaboration with the branding team.

A criminal record check is required.

Regular travel within the Lower Mainland.

Able to work evenings and weekends especially during events or photoshoots.

Position requirements:

Degree in Marketing, Business or related program and a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience*.

OR

Diploma or Certificate in Marketing, Business or related program and a minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience*.

  • Recent, related experience must be within the last 7 years and must include the following:
  • Experience in retail marketing/digital advertising/social media/content strategy.
  • Experience managing and growing social media channels.
  • Experience managing direct reports and/or external vendors.
  • Experience with SEO, SEM and CRM bestpractices and strategies.
  • Experience in a large, distributed retail environment.
  • Experience managing a digital advertising/social media agency/vendors.
  • Experience within the alcohol beverage industry.
  • Experience with Web Content Management Systems and Digital Asset Management Systems.
  • Experience with eNews platforms.
